To obtain a library card, patrons must present a picture ID, verify current address, and complete a library card application. Minors may be issued a library card if their parent or legal guardian agrees to be the responsible party and co-signs the application. Download an application below, or pick one up from the library.

Interlibrary Loans

  • Your first card is free for the San Joaquin Valley Library system. If you lose your card, the replacement fee is $2 for adults and $1 for children. Please report lost or stolen cards immediately to avoid being held responsible for charges on your card.
  • You can use this card at any public library between Kern County and Merced County.
  • You must have your card present when checking out items or when using the Public Access Computers.
  • You may re-new items over the phone by calling 866-290-8681 or online using Your Account.
  • You may return books and magazines in the book drop when the library is closed.
